About Anocote Wraps
A family-owned shop on Production Ave, serving San Diego drivers.
Who is Anocote Wraps?
We're a family-owned shop in San Diego specializing in vehicle wraps, paint protection film, ceramic coating and window tint. Our family has been in business for 30 years, and our owner brings 13 years of hands-on industry experience to every vehicle that comes through our bay.
Where is your shop located?
Our shop is at 8745 Production Ave, San Diego, CA 92121. Every job is done in-house at that location, and we serve drivers across San Diego County, including Sorrento Valley, La Jolla, Del Mar and Carlsbad.
What are your hours?
We're open Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm. We're closed Saturday and Sunday.
Do you subcontract any of the work?
No. Every panel, film and coating is installed by our own team in our own bay, so the person you talk to at drop-off is responsible for the finished car.
What vehicles do you work on?
Daily drivers, trucks, SUVs, EVs like Tesla and Rivian, exotics, classics and commercial vehicles. If it has paint or glass, we can protect it.
How do I get an estimate?
Fill out our quote form with your year, make and model, the service you're interested in and a few photos. We'll reply with a free written estimate. No deposit and no pressure.
Why don't you list prices online?
Every vehicle is different. Size, paint condition, coverage and the products you choose all change the price, so we quote each car individually and you only pay for what your vehicle needs.
Is the price you quote the price I pay?
Yes. Your written estimate spells out exactly what's included. If we find something during prep that changes the job, we'll talk to you before doing any extra work.
Do I need to bring the car in for a quote?
Usually not. Photos and your vehicle details are enough for most estimates. If the paint needs heavy correction, we may ask to see the car before confirming the price.
How long will my car be at the shop?
It depends on the service. Window tint is usually done the same day, while ceramic coatings and wraps take longer because of paint prep and cure time. You'll get a timeline with your estimate.
Choosing the Right Service
Not sure if you need a wrap, film, coating or tint? Start here.
What's the difference between a wrap, PPF and ceramic coating?
A vinyl wrap changes the color or finish of your car. Paint protection film is a thick, clear, self-healing layer that stops rock chips and scratches. A ceramic coating is a thin, hard layer that adds gloss and makes the car easier to wash, but it won't stop a chip.
Can I combine services?
Yes, and most owners do. A common build is PPF on the front end, a ceramic coating over the rest of the car and window tint. Our packages bundle the services that work best together.
Do I need paint correction first?
Before a ceramic coating, almost always. A coating locks in the condition of the paint, so we remove swirls and defects first. We'll let you know at the estimate if your paint needs correction before film or a wrap.
Can you wrap or film over damaged paint?
Film needs a sound surface to stick to. Chips and light scratches can usually be covered, but peeling clear coat or failing paint should be repaired first, or it can show through and lift when the film is removed.
Is it better to protect a new car or an older car?
New is ideal because the paint is still perfect, but older cars benefit too. We correct the paint first, then protect it, so a few years of wear doesn't rule anything out.
Is a wrap a good alternative to paint?
For most owners, yes. A wrap costs less than a quality repaint, comes in finishes paint can't match, and can be removed later to reveal the original paint underneath, which helps resale value.
How long does a car wrap last?
With quality cast vinyl and regular hand washing, a wrap typically lasts several years. Parking out of direct sun and adding a ceramic coating over the film helps it last longer.
Is my wrap covered by a warranty?
Yes. Every vehicle wrap includes a 1-year warranty against lifting, bubbling and peeling caused by the film or the install. See our warranty page for details.
Will a wrap damage my paint?
No. On healthy factory paint, a wrap protects the finish underneath and peels off cleanly when it's time for a change.
Do you wrap door jambs?
On full color changes, yes. Door jambs and handles are included so the old color doesn't show when the doors are open.
How long will my car be in the shop for a wrap?
Most full color changes take three to five days, including prep and post-heat. Partial wraps and chrome deletes are often done in a day or two.
Is PPF the same as a clear bra?
Yes. Paint protection film, PPF and clear bra are three names for the same thing: a clear urethane film that shields paint from rock chips, scratches and road debris.
How long does PPF last, and is it under warranty?
Our paint protection film is backed by a 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling. With proper care, it protects your paint for the full decade.
Will I be able to see the film?
Barely. Modern clear film is optically clear and keeps the gloss of your paint, and we wrap edges wherever possible to hide the film line.
Does PPF really heal itself?
Light scratches and swirls in the top coat disappear with heat from the sun or warm water. Deep cuts that go through the film can't heal and the section would need to be replaced.
Which parts of the car should I cover?
The front bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors take most of the rock chips, so that's where most owners start. Our Track Package adds the lower rockers, and full-vehicle coverage protects every painted panel.
How soon after a repaint can PPF go on?
Fresh paint needs time to cure before film goes over it, usually at least 30 days. Let us know if any panels have been repainted and we'll plan around it.
Ceramic Coating
Ceramic and graphene coatings for paint, glass and wheels.
How is ceramic coating different from wax?
Wax sits on top of the paint and wears off in weeks. A ceramic or graphene coating bonds to the clear coat and lasts for years, so you get lasting gloss and water beading without reapplying.
Does ceramic coating stop rock chips?
No. A coating adds gloss and resistance to chemicals, UV and light marring, but it's far too thin to stop a rock chip. Pair it with paint protection film for impact protection.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
It depends on the product, from our five-year ceramic coating to our ten-year graphene coating. Regular hand washing helps any coating last its full life.
Is ceramic coating worth it?
If you want your car to stay glossy and wash clean with less effort, yes. Dirt, bird droppings and water spots release far more easily, and the paint is shielded from San Diego sun.
Can you ceramic coat over PPF or a wrap?
Yes. We use coatings made for film, which add gloss and make the film easier to keep clean.
What happens if a coating is applied wrong?
Poorly applied coatings leave streaks, haze and high spots that are hard to fix once cured. That's why we decontaminate and correct the paint first and inspect every panel under shop lights.
Why choose ceramic window tint?
Ceramic film like Suntek Evolve rejects more heat than dyed film, won't fade to purple, and has no metal in it, so it doesn't interfere with your phone, GPS or radio.
How dark can I tint my windows in California?
Front side windows must let in at least 70% of light. Rear side and back windows can be any darkness if the car has dual side mirrors, and a non-reflective strip is allowed across the top of the windshield.
Does tint really protect my interior?
Yes. Quality film blocks nearly all UV rays, which slows fading and cracking on your dash, seats and trim, and protects your skin on long drives.
How long does tinting take?
Most cars are done the same day. Time depends on the vehicle and how many windows you're tinting.
When can I roll my windows down after tint?
Keep them up for a few days while the film cures. We'll give you exact timing at pickup based on the weather.
Can old tint be removed?
Yes. We remove old, purple or bubbling film and clean the adhesive off the glass carefully so the rear defroster lines aren't damaged.
What warranty comes with my install?
Paint protection film carries a 10-year warranty and vehicle wraps carry a 1-year warranty. Every job is also backed by the product manufacturer's warranty. See our warranty page for what's covered.
Can I take my car through an automatic car wash?
Skip brush car washes. They can scratch coatings and catch film edges. Hand wash with a pH-neutral soap and a soft mitt, or use a touchless wash.
How soon can I wash my car after an install?
Wait about a week after PPF or a ceramic coating so the film and coating can cure. We'll give you care instructions at pickup.
What should I do if something doesn't look right?
Send us photos as soon as you notice it. Most issues are quick to fix, and covered problems are repaired at no cost.
